Borders

1. Today I am in Germany,

Tomorrow I am in France,

And in between there’s a border they say

And they don’t want to let me go past.

As long as there’s countries

With passports and borders

And barbed wire fences

That are guarded by soldiers

We will never have peace x3

2. Today I am in Portugal,

tomorrow I am in Spain,

and in between there’s a border they say,

and they’re asking me what is my name

As long as there’s armies

With tanks and machine guns

And playing their war games

That prepare them for the real ones

We will never have peace x3.

3. Today I am in Canada

tomorrow in the USA

and in between there’s a border they say

if they let me in, they’re afraid that I’ll stay

As long as there’s enemies

Created by hatred

Where the people mean nothing

But the boundaries are sacred

We will never have peace x3

4. Today I’m in Liberia

tomorrow in the Sierra Leone

and in between there’s a border they say

and they don’t want to let me go home

One day we’ll wake up

And realise our oneness

And laugh at the borders

We’ve put up between us
